Blending eyeshadow is a key to makeup! But most of us don’t really know how to blend it correctly and that’s because most of us aren’t professional makeup artists. So today you’re in luck! We have a nice tutorial laid out just for you on how to blend eyeshadow.

We all know that learning the basics is important. It’s also a key component when it comes to applying makeup. So what does it mean to blend eyeshadow and why do you have to do it? The main reason why blending eyeshadow together with other colors is to give you a final ,perfect color that pulls your look together. A well-blended eyeshadow will give you a look that will not distinguish where the eyeshadow starts and ends!

Must have products:

Here are the following products that you can blend your eyeshadow perfectly. You have to use these exacts tools, but you can use other things as well.

  • Matte Black Eyeshadow
  • Medium Brown Eyeshadow
  • Blending Brush
  • Matte Cream Eyeshadow

Step One

Hydrating your skin is the first step before we can apply any kind of makeup. So gently pat your favorite under eye cream to moisturize your skin and relieve any dryness you might have. If you have dry skin, it can make your makeup appear very unattractive. Start by applying and blending your moisturizer gently with your ring finger till it blends into the skin. People with darker skin can use a salmon or orange color corrector before applying the concealer. By doing this, it will hide the dark circles and even create a base for eye makeup. Once you’re done that, apply the compact powder to prevent the appearances of creases.

For the next step you can apply a dark matte black eyeshadow to the eyelid area of your eyes. Load the eyeshadow in the flat brush shape and softly pat the color over the eyelid area.

Step two

Now use are clean blending brush on the sharp edge line of the black eyeshadow. After that, start from the outer corner of your eyelid, move your blending brush in a “windshield-wiper motion” to the inner corner of your eyes.

Step three

Now pick a medium light, matte brown eyeshadow and apply it to the crease area and the inner corner of your eyes. It’s best to use a small pencil or a dome-shaped brush for this particular step. It will help maintain a precise application of eyeshadow. Also remember to never apply any eyeshadow above the natural crease area because it will appear too bold and unnatural.

Step four

In this step, you can use a tapered blending brush and softly blend both the eyeshadows together. You have to quickly create little swirl-like patterns to blend any harsh edges. Start off from the outer corner and slowly work inwards. This step is very important in the whole eye makeup process because you want to blur out any prominent or harsh edges in the middle where the two different eyeshadow colors meet.

Step five

Now take the matte cream eyeshadow and apply to your brow bone and the inner corner to complete the eye makeup process.

And there you have it! Now you can blend like a professional makeup artist. That wasn’t difficult, was it? A little practice is all you really need to blend your eye makeup flawlessly. Once you understand this process, you can experiment with other looks as well. So go out there and start practicing!
